You’ve done it again – baffled me! This world You created – it’s unmatchable! How did You do it? The diversity, the creativity, the details… once again I experience Your creation and I am awestruck!
The vast deserts of the southwest, the deep canyons of rainbowing red rock: these are drier than dry, yet You provided the sage and cactus and mule deer and every living thing what they need to survive the arid heat and dust.
And You made the snow capped peaks, with hidden away creeks trickling into mountain lakes that flow out over steep cliffs, creating the most breathtaking waterfalls amongst the dense green forests. There little critters scamper over silent beds of soft pine needles, storing up Your bountiful nuts and seeds during the beautiful months for the harsh ones ahead.
Too, the rich dark fertile soil that grows grain with incredible yields show Your goodness, and the corn with tassels reaching for the sky as it towers above me, feeding Your flock. When the enormous thunderheads roll in, lightning in the distance, the wonderful smell of the approaching rain and the moist earth surrounds me.
And there are lightning bugs, scattered right here amongst the rows of corn like shooting stars that we can hold in our hands. And at the same time the stars above me are so clear and crisp and deep. All of these too point me to You.
How amazing You are!
You created inland lakes on islands in the middle of continents, with weird and wacky landscapes – crystal clear waters, tall tall grasses, and parched grounds. Islands buffered with powerful winds and surrounded by deep waters. The forces of nature only hint of Your incredible might!
You know what Lord? This feeble, human daughter of Yours just doesn’t have the words to express the wonders with which You surround her. But that’s okay – You know my mind and heart before I even try to say the words. You are amazing God!
May we never lose our sense of wonder, may we never take for granted the blessings You shower down on me. May we never forget that You are always with us, always providing, always thinking of those details we couldn’t begin to fathom on our own.
That’s all for now Lord. I love You.
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God”
